Case Description
In the occupied Donetsk region, a criminal case was opened regarding participation in an armed conflict against a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Adam Ennis. The date of the initiation of the case is unknown. According to the Russian investigation, in 2022 in Ukraine, Ennis signed a contract and joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a mercenary. He underwent military training, was provided with personal firearms, ammunition and other means of material and technical support necessary for his participation in the armed conflict. For monetary compensation, Ennis, following orders from his superiors, participated in combat operations against the power structures of the DNR and LNR, as well as military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the request of the investigation, the court issued an in absentia arrest warrant for Ennis. He was placed on the international wanted list. On July 15, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Adam Ennis guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 14 years in prison to be served in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
